Foxy Laundry offers Zip repairs in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole areas through our Doorstep collection and delivery service. Alternatively our shop is open 6 days a week. You can drop off your items without prebooking but should you need to discuss your items with the on site Seamstress you are recommended to book an appointments. Zip Repairs

While zips are generally durable, they may occasionally malfunction or sustain damage. A common inquiry is whether a zip can be repaired or requires replacement; this depends on the nature of the issue. If repairable, addressing the underlying problem may suffice. For example, if a broken slider results from snagged teeth, it may be possible to replace the slider, though ensuring proper alignment is essential.

For zip repairs in trousers, skirts, and dresses, replacement is typically preferred over repair, as damaged teeth are almost always the primary cause. In instances where the zip opens at the top, it is often due to the garment being too tight, meaning that replacing the zip only offers a temporary solution.

Double Ended Zips

Heavy-duty coats featuring double-ended zips frequently experience damage at the bottom, often caused by the angle used to operate the zip. Replacement options are limited because length adjustments are not possible; these zips usually come in two-inch increments and colour selections are often restricted. Additionally, original branded toggles cannot be transferred to replacements. The cost to purchase and install these zips is higher than switching to a single-ended zip. If the item is typically opened from the top, we recommend a single-ended zip, as it allows for length adjustments and offers a broader range of colours.

Colours and Types of Zips

We generally stock an extensive selection of zip colours, lengths, and styles. Black, brown, blue, grey, and white are the most commonly available, though we may have other options in stock. Efforts are made to match the replacement zip's colour, especially when it will be visible. We are happy to discuss available colour options and can special order a zip if necessary.

Invisible Zips

Invisible zips are frequently used in women's clothing, such as dresses, skirts, blouses, and jackets. These zips are less robust than standard varieties. Failure often results from excessive stress related to fit. While we offer high-quality replacements, there is potential for future failure unless the garment is professionally altered to achieve a better fit, thereby preventing recurrence of the issue.
